We elevate the cannabis retail experience to honor the plant’s contribution to community connection, physical health, and mental well-being.
Our retail stores were founded on the tenets of inclusivity and safe access. We are profoundly aware of the important role we have to play as change-makers providing a safe space for all consumers and employees, and our wider responsibility to ensure a more socially just future for all. We continue to work as advocates for better legislation to right the wrongs of 100 years of prohibition, including social equity in cannabis businesses.
Our lotus logo, as well as the name Dockside, arose from the desire to cultivate a certain state of mind surrounding our brand. The lotus represents growth, rebirth, and new experiences; “Dockside” is a place that is both a launching point to explore the rest of the world, and a safe harbor to return to.
Dockside Cannabis is a woman and minority-owned company, rooted in the belief that cannabis promotes wellness. In 2011, Dockside first opened its doors as a medical dispensary, Dockside Co-op, in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. As the legacy medical cannabis system gave way to the newly legal state-licensed recreational industry, Dockside Cannabis was born. Today, Dockside Cannabis encompasses four award-winning retail stores in the greater Seattle area that offer the highest quality service and selection to both medical and recreational cannabis shoppers.
Founders Aaron Varney, Maria Moses, & Oscar Velasco-Schmitz are the heart and soul of Dockside Cannabis, and they remain deeply engaged in the daily operations of the business. Collectively, they share backgrounds in business, entrepreneurship, and patient-centered cannabis retail. They also bring a wealth of experience in cannabis cultivation, advocacy, and technology.
