ABOUT
Looking out over the exquisite Sonoran desert, the city of Tucson is Arizona’s second-largest, with over half-a-million residents. Called “Optics Valley” because of all the optics systems design and manufacturing firms headquartered there, Tucson is also home to the University of Arizona, the Arizona Historical Society and the Arizona State Museum and host to numerous cultural events, from the Tucson Folk Festival to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show.
Since the legalization of medical marijuana in the state of Arizona, at least 10 marijuana dispensaries have opened in Tucson.

How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card Online in Tucson, Arizona
To get the doctor’s letter you need to qualify for a medical marijuana card in Tucson, you could see your existing doctor or find a new doctor in your community. But perhaps you don’t want your current doctor or your insurance provider knowing you’re using medical marijuana, or you can’t afford the cost of the appointment, or perhaps you don’t have a doctor and are uncomfortable venturing out into your community to find one simply to authorize you for medical marijuana. Whatever your reasons, there is another way you can get your required doctor’s letter completely online, and that is with Affordable Certification.
It’s a simple 3-step process:
- Set up an account with Affordable Certification including a password. Answer a short series of questions, provide your basic personal information, provide a digital pic of yourself to use on your card, upload a scan of your Arizona photo ID, sign two forms: the patient intake form and the consent-to-receive telemedicine form, and pay Affordable Certification’s $99 fee.
- Meet with one of the Affordable Certification’s network of licensed and qualified Arizona doctors via teleconference. Upon setting up your account, you can either wait in the online waiting room for the next available doctor to see you right away, generally within 15 to 20 minutes, or you can schedule an appointment for a later time and date. In your teleconference, you and the doctor will discuss your condition and symptoms and your use and interest in medical marijuana. Once the doctor is comfortable making and confirming the diagnosis, he or she will write and email you the necessary letter.
- With your doctor’s letter and photo ID in hand, you are ready to apply for your medical marijuana card over the Arizona Department of Health online system. Upon uploading all the required documentation, you will pay the fee of $150 for a two-year card (or $75 if you have proof you’re on the SNAP food stamps program.) Once the AZDHS has processed and approved your application, usually within a couple of weeks, you will receive your ready-to-use digital Arizona medical card via email.
With your new digital Arizona medical marijuana card in hand (or on your phone, more likely,) you can now visit any Arizona dispensary and purchase up to 2.5 ounces of medical marijuana over any two-week period.
