He immediately prescribed her an outdated pharmaceutical drug that (unbeknownst to us) was used to treat malaria some time ago. A week later, she was experiencing the numerous side effects from this drug which quickly hospitalized her. A week later, she passed away. My family was devastated. In the days following our loss, all I could think about was how this tragic situation could have been avoided. And now it can be.
