There are a few things to keep in mind as you prep to bake your delicious cannabis cookies.

Dosing

If you’re an average cannabis user and plan to share your cookies with a group of friends who are also average users, the last thing you want is a batch of suuuuuuuuuuper potent cookies that, an hour after consumption, has the lot of your sunk into your couch and completely catatonic.

To avoid this, take care in regulating your dosage. The recipe below assumes about 10 mg of THC per cookie, which is a perfectly reasonable amount. And that’s based on using ½ ounce of cannabis and 1 cup of butter to make cannabutter.

Equipment

Perhaps this goes without saying, but you’ll need all the standard kitchen supplies to make these cookies. Mixing bowls, measuring cups, measuring spoons, a mixing spoon, cookie sheet, and a spatula. And of course, you’ll also need an oven.

Ingredients

Here’s a quick rundown of the basic ingredients you’ll need for your cannabis cookies:

• 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon salt (optional)
• ½-cup cannabis-infused butter – Cannabutter
• ½-cup butter
• ¾-cup sugar
• ¾-cup packed brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 eggs 
• 2-cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1-cup chopped nuts (we don’t love nuts, but recognizing that lots of people do, we included it as an optional item)

Directions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing.

Step 3: Combine cannabutter, butter, eggs, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla into a smaller mixing bowl and thoroughly blend these ingredients, dissolving the butter as much as possible.

Step 4: Slowly ladle the wet ingredients into the large bowl of dry ingredients and thoroughly mix all ingredients into a smooth, creamy batter.

Step 5: Mix chocolate chips into the batter.

Step 6: Use a mixing spoon to drop walnut-size dollops onto a cookie sheet (with a medium or small size cookie sheet, no more than 6 cookies per sheet. With a larger cookie sheet, no more than 8 cookies per sheet).

Step 7: Bake for 10 minutes (cookies may still appear raw or under-done in the center, but this produces softer cookies that stay fresher longer. If you prefer more well-done cookies, bake for 12 minutes).

Step 8: Remove from the oven and use your spatula to slide cookies off the sheet and place them on a drying rack or plate (don’t leave cookies on the sheet as they will continue to cook, and the bottoms may burn).

Step 9: Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes and enjoy!
